"The willingness and eagerness shown by European companies and institutions for stronger cooperation with China convinced me that economic and trade cooperation between China and Europe will cover more areas and be more inclusive," said Liu Senbao, head of the Zhenjiang delegation .

FRANKFURT, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Business delegations from a number of Chinese provinces and cities recently conducted economic and trade promotion activities in Europe, which European companies said they were happy to welcome, for the huge business opportunities they could not miss.

The European companies recently told Xinhua that the investment opportunities and market prospects brought by Chinese partners were much appreciated and needed in time.

On December 15, the business delegation from Hubei Province in central China went to Germany and Sweden for an eight-day investment campaign abroad.

"The Hubei delegation that chose Duisburg as the first stop to promote Sino-German urban cooperation has driven home its sincerity in strengthening cooperation between Wuhan (capital of Hubei province) and Duisburg," said Markus Teuber, Commissioner for China Affairs at the mayor's meeting. A promotional meeting held by the Hubei delegation took place in Frankfurt on December 19, attended by about 30 German pharmaceutical and automotive companies. The representative of a German biopharmaceutical company said the meeting would revive and promote the strategic partnership between German and Chinese companies in Hubei Province .

In early December, a delegation from Zhenjiang City in East China's Jiangsu Province visited some 30 European companies and institutions in Switzerland and Germany to meet potential business partners and broaden investment channels for foreign investment.

Bernd Metzner, chief financial officer of Gerresheimer AG, said the production base in Zhenjiang would enable the company to lower production costs and optimize the capacity structure at a time when energy prices have soared in Europe. Only by doing this could the company maintain its competitive edge in the international market, Metzner said.

Antoine Raymond, CEO of ARaymond, a French auto parts manufacturer, revealed that his company planned to invest in China to manufacture auto parts to share the interest in the new energy vehicle boom in China.

Raymond said his company's Zhenjiang factory was a national-level green facility and he aimed to make the production base there a successful example of green cooperation between China and Europe.

Raymond also said his company was satisfied with the investment and business environment, related industries and geographical advantages of Zhenjiang and would like to prioritize the city as a destination for investment once the company has a new project.
